You missed the point. There is a breed of person who likes nothing more than tearing down other people. Back in the bad old days, they were the malicious gossips, the tale-bearers, the ones who spread rumours that such and such a woman was 'no better than she should be', or who would report you for being a minute late back from lunch, or taking a pen from the stationery cupboard without asking a manager first. All the new rules, both written and unwritten, of conduct have given these folk an unprecedented amount of ammunition. And, to their delight, it isn't always necessary to prove wrongdoing any more -in some cases simply the suspicion is enough!
