You miss my point. I see individuals with issues because that's what I spent much of my working life dealing with.

It's the others that see the 'amorphous mass'. The simple-minded and mentally lazy who perhaps don't personally know anyone who faces those issues. Because the term 'trans' has become so broad and non-specific that it has lost all meaning except to indicate a group of 'other' whose needs and motivations seem to differ every time you hear about them.

People, especially here in the UK, now understand the meaning of gay or lesbian to the extent that popular TV programmes now regularly feature both without an eyebrow being raised and almost everyone knows somebody who is, in the current phrase 'on the other bus'. Until we reach that level of clarity with gender non-conforming people, there are going to be problems.
