You know, even when you don't say it, you always imply that we need to get back to being religious, specifically Christian in order to find meaning for our lives and build a stable society. However, that ship has sailed.
The pre-requisites for unquestioning religious faith (on a large scale) are ignorance and/or poverty. Most Western countries have done a reasonable job of mitigating both of these, to the extent that you can be poor but not ignorant (Brtish working-class) or ignorant but not poor (American white Evangelicals).
We need to replace the archaic beliefs and structures of theist religion with a non-elitist philosophy that encourages us to embrace common moral ideas, a sense of identity and a common aim without resorting to threats of supernatural post-mortem punishment.
