You have more than your fair share of nutters, true. But the problem is that said nutters can get hold of guns or be elected President. Since nobody needs either guns or a President (we manage very nicely without one), and both are very dangerous things for nutters to get their paws on, the sensible step would be to ban the one and abolish the other!
