You can, of course, explain this by positing, as I have done before, that the Christian Christ is a conflation of at least two real people: a Zealot leader of Davidian descent operating in Judaea and an Essene preacher of humble origins travelling through Galilee. Mix the stories up -as can happen if both men had the same name - and then add in some aspects of a Mediterranean vegetation cult, per Paul the Greek, and you have a new Mystery Cult that can make said Paul a ton of dosh!
