You are right about Hamas, of course. But it is also worth remembering that the people of Israel are also at the mercy of a powerful, wealthy group who do not care about them. The religious bloc holds far more political influence in Israel than in any Western country, they they are determined to claim every last acre of the land God is supposed to have promised Joshua -by any and all means necessary.

It is that bloc which keeps Likud and Netanyahu in power, and thus prevents any considered or negotiated solution from being reached.
