Yeah, the TV movie was ludicrous, did everything wrong.
But since 2005, the Doctor has gathered a far more widespread and numerous US audience. Any inordinate Americanisation of the programme runs the risk of losing this audience while not gaining a larger one in a market saturated with Star Trek spinoffs and superhero capers.
Also, Bad Wolf Productions are the owner of a franchise which almost all TV companies and streaming services would be more than happy to get their hands on and leave alone, if that's what it took!
On the other hand, as a writer of crossover fanfiction, I can see no harm in the occasional crossover special appearing on our screens. Especially with the MCU! A 'discussion' between Kate Stewart and Nick Fury would be one for the ages!
