Yeah. It wasn't about the spelling so much - a lot of them remembered to put the 'u' in 'colour' and so forth after the first couple of reminders. It was about the way people talk and what we call things. Jumper instead of sweater, knickers instead of panties, trousers instead of pants, trainers instead of sneakers. There was reminding folk that most Brits drive manuals rather than automatics and that we 'change' gears rather than 'shift' them. I had to write a whole essay once to explain to one lady why a 6-litre American 'muscle car' would stand no chance of catching a 1.5 litre UK hatchback on country roads in England! Also, given that JKR herself never got the lavatory thing right, there was much ado about that, too! There was pointing out that MacDonalds and Burger King are snacks, where fish and chips is a meal, and don't get me started on sandwiches!

Fortunately, JKR chickened out of giving her characters their proper regional accents, so I was spared that!
