Wnston Rose - I can find nothing regarding this matter that is not highly-biased in favour of the late Mr Rose, other than that a verdict of 'unlawful killing' was recorded. Therefore no comment.

Clinton McCurbin was suspected of attempting to use a stolen credit card in a Next shop. He was requested by two police officers, summoned by the staff, to accompany them to the station for further investigation. He refused to do so, at which point the officers attempted to arrest and caution him. McCurbin resisted violently - violently enough for a member of the public to feel obliged to assist the police. The consequences of his actions are therefore on his own head. Had he cooperated, he would today be alive and free. Or are you in favour of the notion that people who commit brazenly criminal acts should be allowed to get away with it? Or just people who resist arrest? Or just Black people?

Wayne Douglas had a weak heart, and yet seems to have deemed it necessary to flee from and struggle with the police, and not to inform them of his physical condition so they could get him examined before questioning. Unfortunate, but again, his own doing.

Responsibility for Trevor Monervilles' death lies with prison and medical staff, not police, and is typical of the lack of understanding regarding epilepsy that is common even among the supposedlty medically-trained.

Brian Douglas seems to have been a victim of incompetence. Striking someone on the head with bare hands can be fatal, so there is no excuse for doing so with a baton, any baton. The officer should have known that and is therefore to be held responsible for the death.

The Dalian Atkinson case was a 'perfect storm'. Atkinson himself was clearly mentally ill and aggressive. Constable Monk appears to be a thoroughly nasty piece of work and officer Bettley-Smith clearly lacked self-control. It goes to show that more careful procedures must be in place when recruiting police officers and that better care should be taken of the mentally ill.
