William Blake was wont to remark that 'contrarities are equally true' and thus the casus belli for the 'Mental Fights' he encouraged his readers to engage in. He had no use for 'negation', the simple denial of opposing viewpoints.

Perhaps he foresaw the current use of negation as an excuse not to engage with those whose viewpoints oppose ones' own?
