Why is barbarism bad? Historically, the difference between 'Barbarians' and 'Civilised people' has rested in these contrasts:

Barbarians are united in their beliefs and morality. The civilsed allow and encourage all sorts of beliefs, given them all equal weight, and tend toward amorality if not outright corruption.

Barabrians are genetically diverse and thus vigorous, because barbarian society is socially uniform and relatively flat, there is a broader acceptable choice of partner. They encourage people to have children while they are young, and to have a sensible number. The civilised tend to inbreeding because they marry within their own social groups. They often put off marriage and breeding until their 30s or even 40s, producing fewer children and then either spoiling or neglecting them.

Civilised people tell their children "You can be whatever you want to be." Barbarians raise their kids to follow rules and serve their society. They train their son s for war and their daughters for motherhood.

Historically, barbarians invariably win out over the civilised.

Currently, Muslims and the Chinese are the barbarians. We are civilised. The odds are, we're going to lose.

We could use some barbarism.
