Who does one sympathise with most? A handful of rich fools or hundreds of poor fools? One lot undertaking a legal but risky venture, the other an equally risky but illegal one? None of them had any business being where they were!

1 500 people died when the Titanic went down. That ship is their cemetery and should be treated as such, not a tourist attraction for the rich. Those people died of disrespect.

The migrants who drowned in the Mediterranean where the victims of people-trafficking gangs who sold them a false dream of a better life in Europe. A dream they beileved in just as millions of Europeans in the 19th Century believed that 'there are no cats in America'. They died of their own gullibility and unwillingness to stay and work to make their native countries better places.

The only honest thing anyone could really say to any and all of these people is "Serves you right, you idiot!" So it would be better to say nothing.
