What galls me is that such people either really don’t know or actually don’t care why you’re there!
“Why do you want to work for us?” — Because I can do the job, the salary is decent, and I’ve got a fucking mortgage to pay!
“Where do you see yourself in five or ten years time?” -Hopefully still working and in slightly less debt.
“I’m having difficulty quantifying your commitment to the organisation.” — It’s in direct proportion to the amount of my take-home pay, idiot!
“It concerns me that you don’t socialise with your colleagues.” — It doesn’t concern you at all, it’s none of your damn business. I put up with them all day, I don’t want them in the rest of my life, I don’t like them.
“Are you comfortable in your role?” It’s a job, not a role. I’m not an actor.
My work is what I do to make a living. It has nothing to do with who I am. I don’t have to like it, I don’t have to like the people I work with, and I am not about to stick my head up my own or anybody else’s arse for the sake of a promotion! Promote me if I’m competent, otherwise let me get on with the work I’m doing!
