Um, what happens when you alter the bus routes and give kids free kit is that the clubs push the training fees up to make sure the peasants can't afford them. They want nice, white, middle-class kids in their clubs.

So then a charitable group sets up a tennis club in the poorer part of town. The equipment is second-hand and the coaches and trainers are also-rans who are also probably white and middle-class -well-intentioned, but unable to help as much as they would like to. Not much chance of anyone who isn't a wildly-talented genius making the top ranks from that foundation.

Equity would involve some government department getting off its' useless lazy arse and ensuring that all High Schools offer opportunities for all students to try out a variety of sports, and that those who wish to follow up on any sport have the chance to do so with financial support.

You'll never get any kind of equity (ie a level playing field) by relying on the private sector or hoping that racists and snobs will stop being racists and snobs. They won't do it by themselves.
