Um. Not to brag, but you did comment that you were 'musing' on a similar thing I said about Frodo and Sam in my article on LOTR here: https://baos.pub/the-passing-of-the-old-world-8c7beddff435

My fragile ego apart, one of the burdens of a childhood spent with my nose in books of mythology means that I see 'Heroes' and 'Chosen Ones' differently. Basically, they are sacrifical pawns of the Gods or Destiny. They are supposed to do their deeds, then die -usually at the unintentional hands of a loved one, as Heracles died because his wife, Deianira, mistook a poisoned shirt for a fidelity charm, Arthur, killed by his own son, Mordred, or Rustum, who committed suicide on realiing that the young warrior he had just slain was his son, Sohrab.

Michael Moorcock understood this, as can be seen in the final ends of both Elric and Corum, while Hwkmoon, who chose his own path before he'd even heard of the Runestaff, lived out his days. Tolkien understood it, which is why Frodo, the 'hero', has to travel West, while Sam, the 'protagonist' gets to have a wife and family and be Mayor etc. JKR, didn't, which is why Harry survived the Battle of Hogwarts (Voldemorts' final curse should have killed both of them) and had to marry the proto-psychopath Ginny.

This annoyed/amused me so much that my fanfiction version of Harry has been, at various times, manipulated by HYDRA (through their agent, Dumbledore), the Bene Gesserit (McGonagall is a Reverend Mother), the Vorlons, River Song, the Time Mage known as The Deacon, and even the Daleks!. He's been cloned, had the clone assimilated by the Borg, absorbed all the regeneration energy from the phoenix feather in his old wand, and been taught by an asari Justicar how to utilise Dark Energy via the Elder Wand! He was last seen, in the 24th Century, on his second regeneration, leading a troubleshooting team composed of Duncan MacLeod, Wolverine and Deadpool! One of his ancestors was Arargorn and one of his descendants is Paul (Muad'dib) Atreides.

That, dear JKR, is what you get for not writing your stories properly!
