Thor: Thud and Blunder
Do something properly or don’t do it at all!
OK, so I watched Thor: Love and Thunder on Disney+ last night. Two hours of my life I won’t get back!
I don’t usually do film reviews, leaving that to the excellent Simon Dillon, but upon this occasion I feel the need to express my thoughts.
Caveat: SWMBO enjoyed every minute of it, so this is a minority report!
The Review
This addition to the MCU seems to be pretty much the runt of the litter. How the production team managed to cram a 45-minute story into a two-hour film is nothing short of miraculous! Spoilers ahead!
Thor is playing professional deus ex machina for the Guardians of the Galaxy, his ex has terminal cancer and somebody is going round murdering gods. Thor gets a message from Sif, finding her injured next to the corpse of another dead god. He takes her to New Asgard, which is then attacked. In the course of the ensuing scrap he discovers that his ex has somehow managed to repair Mjolnir and acquire some Thor powers, and that the god-killer is trying to find Eternity, a powerful being who will grant him one wish. As part of his Cunning Plan, the Gorr the god-killer kidnaps all the kids in New Asgard and buggers off to some gloomy dimension with them. Thor, Thorette, Valkyrie and Korg…
