This one had a very different feel to it than other Bond films. Connery played Bond as a wisecracking hit-man without conscience or pretence. Lazenby was more human throughout, and in turn Diana Rigg as Tracy was far more complete as a character than any other 'Bond girl'. I'd hesitate to class this as a 'Bond film' proper, to be honest. A first-class thriller in its own right, but not a full-on Bond film.
Possibly due to my age, Sean Connery will always be the 'real' Bond. Mind, that's because for me, Roger Moore was The Saint, and indeed in many ways carried that same 'gentleman adventurer' feel into his portrayal of 007. Closer to Richard Hannay or Bulldog Drummond than James Bond in style. Though of course, Moore could pass for an Old Etonian in a way Connery never could (did you know that in his last year at Eton, Bond was beaten up by a younger student? Lad name of John Steed).
