This is not new. It's been 20 years since my family visited Florida from the UK. In a good two-thirds of the shops, restaurants and so forth we visited, we had servers all but fighting over us!

"We love English people! They always say thank you, they chat with you and their kids are always polite and well-behaved!"

What? Our pair of criminal-minded hooligans?

A gentleman working in some kind of educational supply shop in the EPCOT Centre (I was teaching at the time) told us how much more mature and articulate British kids were than American ones at the same age. "The Japanese kids are smart ,too, but too serious, like little robots."

Given that Brits have a reputation for being stand-offish and badly-behaved when on holiday, I was rather surprised!
