There were downsides for us. Because of Annes' health issues and Lotties' diabetes, they had to shield. This effectively meant that I was the only one able to get about much! Rik and Theresa were both classed as key workers so were as busy as ever. So I was Mr Shopping!

Not but what I enjoyed the empty roads, uncrowded shops and the lack of people getting in my face.

I do think, though, that the three most British responses were a) the Dalek patrolling the streets of Robin Hoods' Bay ordering "All hu-mans must self-is-o-late!" b) Captain Sir Tom Moore and his daily walks, and c) the chap in the queue for Morrisions who, when asked what he would do if he found he had Covid, answered, "Cough all over the mother-in-law!"
