There was a time when compamies tried that kind of hard-sell over here in the UK. They encountered an issue, which as that the typical British customer can be a bit bloody-minded! You get the informed customer, who's done their research, knows exactly what they want and won't budge from it. Or you get the customer who knows what they want to spend and, if pushed, will simply walk out of the shop and go somewhere else! You no longer get so much hard-sell over here, and when you do, the target is primarily older people, who are deemed to beeasily taken advantage of. Which is why so many older folk will not now undertake large financial committments without calling in their grown-up children!
