There is, of course, also the issue that plagues democracy everywhere. The one where people who, in a sane society, would be considered too stupid to be allowed to breed, are actually allowed to vote!

Am I in favour of universal suffrage? Only in places where everyone over 18 is educated enough to have at least a basic grasp of the issues. This has apparently not been the case in the US for some years and it's heading that way in this country, if the difference between what I had been taught by age twelve and what my grandkids are now learning is anything to go by!
