Dave Allen was often in trouble for mocking religion. But he mocked the customs, the rituals, the stultified thinking and hypocrisy, not the actual belief. His equally savage and cynical attitude toward politicians and authority in general was somehow more acceptable.
Of the three, I enjoyed and admired Dawson and Allen, but could not stand Manning. Personal opinion. That does not change the fact that all three were masters of their craft. So I agree - if you don't like what you see or hear, go and watch or listen to something you do like!
