The Qashqai is actually marketed as a city car, The real bruiser n the X-Trail. Nissan went a bit daft a while back.. They had the Note - a cross between MPV and hatchback that covered all the bases for a family car (including room for three teenagers in the back), was lght on both fuel and steering, but whose shape caused traditionalists to retch. They had the Qashqai, a 'crossover' vehicle - half SUV, half saloon and popular with the kind of Dad who doesn't like being seen drving a 'family' car (a subspecies of 'Mondeo Man'). Finally the short-lived Pulsar, a revamp of the old Sunny and meant to replace the popular Almera, it was plagued by mechanical unrelability and discontinued in 2018.

The Note (with the new E-Power drivetrain) is now only on sale in Asia and America. It was discontinued in Europe and the UK in favour of more Qashqais. I drove a Note for years, and it was a lovely car. More cabin space than any other car I've driven, tall enough that you could see where you were going. Big enouhg to go camping in, but would fit standard parking sapce and turn on a sixpence. Handled like a dream and llght on the old zoom-juice. Ten times better than the sluggish, cramped Toyota Auris Hybrid I crawl around in now!

That was the car they dropped in favour of the Qashqai! Idiots!
