The problem with OnlyFans is that it offers an illusion of intimacy. The delusion that the person on the screen is performing 'just for you'. I mean, it's wholly untrue and folk know it, but they like the illusion.

It's transactional, but then so is a lot of sexual activity. A wife accedes to her husbands' request on Friday night with the unspoken caveat that he will buy her something nice in town the following day. The young man who, against his natural inclination to pass the eveniing in the pub, will instead take his girlfriend for a nice meal in the fancy restaurant she wants to go to, drink wine instead of beer, take her dancing in that high-class club and buy her expensive ccktails, all in the expectation of gainig her consent later on.

This is the world we live in, and it's lawyas been this way. It's just louder now.

Our civilisation is decadent. We have become too civilised, too tolerant. The challenge is to restore vigour without a fresh descent into barbatism.
