The original Cynics grew out of the Stoics, and thus their sharp criticisms of society and its institutions always implied that these could be corrected if everyone became a Stoic. I find some Stoicism useful - the ability to maintain equanimity within oneself while facing external pressures and problems that are beyond ones' ability to resolve is one worthy of development. It lies at the core of CBT, for instance.
These modern cynics, however, rail at the flaws in the existing systems withiout having first taken the time or trouble to construct their own alterrnative systems. They haven't done the work.
