The only problem I have with these people is that so many of them appear to be healthy men of military age.

I can't answer for anyone else, but if the UK were to be invaded or fall into civil war, I would expect my elderly and frail parents, my wife, daughter, daughter-in-law and grandchildren to try and get to safety. My son and I would stay to fight - we agreed on this a long time ago.
