The film is a mess, granted. But your evident over-investment in Star Wars I find mildly amusing. Where people get so much passion for three films which, let's face it, are notable only for their ground-breaking visual effects I have no idea. Devoid of those expensive trappings, anyone who had seen a Swords ad Sandals movie, a Robin Hood film or a King Arthur one, or who had read a Lensman novel, would have known exactly what they were getting: a reasonably entertaining bit of hack-work. Lucas happily pillaged everything from Dune to The Three Musketeers via Jason and the Argonauts.

That said, nobody who was, like myself, raised on Doctor Who could possibly be impressed by Star Wars anyway.
