The BBC, and indeed other UK-based public service broadcasters, once had an obligation to devote a certain amount of broadcast time to religious matters -especially on a Sunday. Back in the day, this was easy. As long as they kept it mostly CoE and gave roughly equal time to Roman Catholics and Nonconformists in interdenominational stuff, everyone was happy.
Now, of course, there are Evangelicals shouting the odds and Muslims prepared to take to the streets on the flimsiest of excuses. Not to mention the feminists and LGBTQ+ crowd who are so good ast being offended. So now the Beeb and the others have dropped religious programming almost completely and stick to conventional science because that doesn't offend many people.
Mind you, they still get irate letters from elderly people angry that Sir David Attenborough never mentions God in his documentaries!
As to your tehsis in general, I think I'm going to have to respond in a piece of my own. I'll tag you in it so you know.
