Slightly narrow view of Socialism there. Liberalism, sadly, is the privilege of the well or at least comfortably- off middle classes. It's well-intentioned, but misses the mark because Liberals tend to believe that social inequalities can be resolved without significant change to economic infrastructure.

Socialists, on the other hand, believe that no effective progress can be made on social issues until and unless there is radical economic change. Without a redistribution of wealth from the minority to the majority, without the de-commodification of certain key items and services, social issues will remain intractable.

Put simply, people who have decent homes, a sufficient and secure income, enough to eat, access to free medical care and education, time and facilities for recreation and a good work-life balance are less likely to be concerned about race, gender, sexuality and general 'otherness'.

Democratic Socialism, a proper balance between public provision and private enterprise and policies in place to deter greed and predatory capitalism, could provide a basis form which to abolish the fears and need to compete which lie at the base of most 'isms'.
