Reminds me, in a roundabout kind of way, of a 'type' I've noticed here -generation-skip ethnicity, I call it.
So this guy, Dave I'll call him, was born in Coventry, like his parents were, brought up there and had a broad Coventry accent One set of his grandparents had come over from Ireland. His wife, Sue, came from a similar background. So now they go around broadcasting about being Irish, and name their kids Liam and Caitlin! Neither they, nor the kids, are any more Irish than I am! Not only that, but the kids get stick at school from others who are actually Irish, not to mention the ones who grew up listening to their parents and grandparents fulminating about the Provos and the bombings.
