Please remember that you are dealing with France, here! Of all European cultures, the French is the most insular and self-aggrandising, as well as in many ways the most unnecessarily complicated.

You'd find the UK very different. Just remember a couple of things:

1) American and English are not the same language, and while Brits will almost always understand what you say, some of the stuff we come out with might well puzzle you.

2) Marmite is supposed to be spread thinly on toast, not eaten out of the jar with a spoon!
