Our brains are actually very well evolved. They are the brains of a species of pack-hunting apex predators. This is something too many people try to bury or forget.
Nuanced thinking is a late development and as yet not all humans are capable of it. Nor is it entirely clear how best to utilise it. It remains to be seen if this is a pro- or anti-survival trait. As matters stand, however, our best chance is in unified, focused thought and action. The behaviour of the hunting pack. Only by acting all together, with a common aim, will we be able to avert or at least mitigate the coming environmental changes. It may then be, in whatever society we build afterwards -and we will have to do that - that nuanced thinking will show its value.
