One womans’ problematic man is another womans’ fantasy/meal-ticket/boss. It’s not as if there aren’t problematic women about. Margaret Thatcher, who destroyed the lives of millions, for instance. More recently, Diane Abbott, whose virulent sexism and racism cost the Labour Party as much support as the Brexit issue did, and Theresa May, whose deliberate sabotage of the democratically-expressed wish of her country has led directly to the mess the UK is now in. Nobody ever questions why the men in their lives stay with them!
Monica Lewinsky gave Clinton a blowjob in the hope of getting a better job for herself — she should have known better. Melania married Donald to get her paws on his credit cards and so that when she does divorce him, she can be sure of a big enough pay-day to continue her lifestyle — she is quite as amoral as he is.
Where there is abuse and assault, these must be dealt with, and the law is there to do so. But crimes must be reported promptly, evidence must be produced and charges brought. To wait years or decades before speaking out serves only the perpetrator, not the victim. To reverse the rules and laws governing the burden of proof solely because the crime is sexual assault and the accuser a woman is to abandon a basic principle of both our legal systems.
