One thing you might suggest, if your mentor is willing to help, is an idea that was tried at my last place of work.
The system is called 'reverse mentoring'. Simply, an executive is assigned a 'mentor' who is a lower-level colleague, preferably from a group that is under-represented at the higher level. The idea is for the executive to learn about the challenges faced by these groups, and to work with his/her reverse mentor to change the organisational culture to remove these extra challenges.
