OK, so while I don't have a problem with the idea that the Universe, the sun, the earth might be conscious on some level, I do question its' relevance. Indeed our relevance.

For the consciousness of any being to have relevance to any other, there must be a method of communication, a way to exchange informnation and ideas of mutual interest and importance. This means that the consciousnesses concerned must be of a similar type, if not order.

If this is not the case, then we are left in a Lovecraftian universe in which we are surrounded by vast and powerful beings who we can never understand or communicate with, and to whom we are irrelevant. If that's so, then we should shrug our shoulders and spend more effort on solving our actual problems.
