OK, but you're assuming absolute values for 'good' and 'evil'. But actually, it's not quite that simple. In general 'good' is what We do and 'evil' is what They do. The same action will be good if We do it and evil if They do it. If They raid Our fields, kill Our men and kidnap Our women and kids, it's evil plundering. But when We do exactly the same to Them it's a good and noble crusade.

The Scots and Welsh are overly fond of pointing out how the English conquered, and colinised them, suppressing their languages and cultures. They do, however, dislike being reminded that the reason for doing this was their habit of sneaking across the border once or twice a month, stealing everything that wasn't nailed down and setting fire to everything that was!

There are no good guys and bad guys, just Us and Them. Who constitutes Us and who They are varies over time and in context.

As for suffering, it's what happens to the loser when We fight Them, in which case the winner is in control. Or it's just a natural occurrence - illness, climate, natural disaster, accident -and nobody is in control.

No more explanation is needed.
