Oh, please! Since when does America have a Left? What you have are Republicans (way to the right of Attila the Hun) and Democrats (slightly to the right of Attila the Hun). American liberals fawn over JFK, conveniently forgetting that he owed his position to his father, Joseph Kennedy, who was another Trump. JFK was lucky in that there was no #metoo in his day!

Never mind. There will never be a Left in America until somebody comes along intending to take the utilities into public ownership, set up a tax-funded, free-at-the point-of-use universal healthcare service, ban the ownership of firearms by civilians and tax the uber-rich until their eyeballs bleed! Until then, you just have squabbles between the far right and the not-so-far right.

As to Trump, this is not the first, or the second, time a total lackwit has been put in the White House. In my lifetime, you’ve had Reagan, George W Bush and Bill Clinton as well as the current Idiot in Chief. And you give other people bad ideas, which is why we’re currently stuck with Boris the Buffoon and had in the past to cope with Thatcher (it’d be worth believing in Hell just for the thought of that monster burning there).

What you need to do is abolish the office of President, or make it purely ceremonial, and let the majority leaders in Congress form the executive, they way we do it here. That way, the actions of the executive are open to daily scrutiny and challenge from the actual representatives of the voters. At the moment, the long and extreme process of impeachment is the only way Trump can be held to account, but his buddy Boris has to stand at the Dispatch Box and be quizzed every week! There’s no way Boris can get away with what Donald does!
