Oddly enough, what 'locks' me out of many FTP games is the severe limits placed on the single-player experience. Sooner or later, they try to make you join a Guild, Faction, Alliance or Team, usually by making the higher-value missions and scenarios unwinnable by a single player. I know this is flying in the face of what many consider online play to be all about, but a game that had higher-level options for single players would lose nothing and gain a little, I think.

By the same token, I've largely given up on console games because too many of them give a rushed, drastically-shortened single-player campaign which often just serves as a tutorial for the online play. I want a game with a long and absorbing single-player campaign because I'm 64 and no match for a bunch of teenagers with lightning reflexes and well-off parents! (Which means I'd also like a few more games that reward experience and guile rather than fast reactions and testosterone addiction.)
