Now you know why I prefer Marvel! Can you imagine how Magneto would have reacted if Quicksilver had abused a girlfriend like that? A story arc where Brainwave Snr was furious at his sons' treatment of Yolanda -despite her being on the 'other side' - would have been far more interesting. As would the idea of a meta-human who had no plans for his powers other than to abuse women - no righting wrongs, no taking over the world, just ferreting out their secrets telepathically and blackmailing them into compliance.

But some YA series do delight in these icky turns. The entire Buffy/Spike thing made me cringe!
