Not sure what to think of this. I always saw Godzilla -and King Kong, Behemoth and other films like it, as being about Nature striking back at human interference. If nuclear tests hadn't awakened Godzilla, if the movie crew had left Kong on his island, all would have been well. The human penchant for pushing the extra yard, even when you don't need to, often ends in unnecessary havoc! To think it all started when Professor Challenger released a pterodactyl in Queens' Hall in 1912!
In the matter of effects, whether it's stop-motion, animatronic, puppetry or CGI does not, in and of itself, matter. What matters is how well and carefully it is done. If you can see the joins, then somebody was cutting corners or didn't care enough, that's all.
