Not so much. But if it is something you feel strongly about, there's no point in toning it down for the sake of the permaffended and the duckspeakers. I mean, look at me, the Celtic Chameleon and the Argumentative Penguin! We have things to say and we say them. If you're more interested in writing about writing, hobbies, interests and so forth, you'll pick up readers who share those interests, but you'll be fighting against specialists and dedicated platforms.
If you want to talk about things you're more passionate or opinionated about, then you may get more readers, but not all of them are going to agre with you and some may be downright nasty. That's the risk you take, so you need to think about how you cope with it before you hit the keyboard.
