No, I don't. To begin with, the entire premise is flawed. The old 'change the past to make the present better' idea was exploded before the film was even made. Quantum Leap only got away with it by bringing God into the equation and thus making it fantasy rather than SF. That's the reason I didn't like Men in Black 3 , either.
But the other thing I dislike about 'Back to the Future' is more to do with my being a Brit, I suspect. I just hate that whole, hackneyed, small-town America, High-School-Prom-decides-your-destiny vibe. Everything from Carrie through Grease to 10 Things I Hate ABout You, all stamped from the same mould.
Add to that Christopher Lloyd chewing the scenery, Michael J Fox doing his impression of a hole in the celluloid and a full supporting cast of hams and stuffed owls, it's a perfect storm of corn, cliche and saccharine.
But it's better than Bill and Teds' Excellent Adventure. Just.
We also disagree on Doctors, it seems, since I regard Tom Baker as the worst Doctor ever!
