Miss Dollie Daisie Dimple and Her Trunk of Smart Clothes was apparently highly popular in 1888. The magazine advert is available on Etsy. The doll may have either been wooden or papier mache, while the clothes ( 'all to take on and off') were of 'durable highly-glazed cloth'. The doll, trunk of clothes and a book containing a story ('upwards of 50 Articles, securely packed') could be delivered anywhere in Great Britain for the princely sum of 1s 4d ('per Postal Order preferred').

Given that the relative value of 1s 4d is now £7.63 ($10.44) and that on Amazon a Barbie Fashionista doll with one outfit and Prime free delivery costs £10.39 ($14.21), it seems Miss Dimple was not so bad of a deal!
