Misplaced kindness on the part of the First Nation peoples led to their downfall. It's happened time and again and it never ends well. Are you aware of the costs of colonialism to ordinary British people? My ancestors were Yorkshire coalminers who worked like dogs and died like flies to fuel the Empire that made a few people very rich and benefited the country as a whole not one whit! Imagine the improvements all that work and energy and money could have made to their lives if it had been spent at home! If people like the East India Company had been content to trade fairly with the people of India and steer clear of local politics, we would all have been better off.
