Just to be clear, I've written a lot of stories and I've never once written about rape - in fact in general I don't write about or even mention sex all that much (Ace and all that). Nor am I a fan of rape scenes in films and TV - it's a subject for documentaries and investigative reporting, not fiction.

Then why not just say "This film has shallow uninteresting characters and a boring derivative plot"? and leave it at that? To quote the late Duke of Edinburgh responding to a Bishops sermon "You could have said that in two sentences!". You go on at some considerable length and invite equally lengthy responses. Why say all that if you could have encapuslated your view in a sentence?

Genre is no longer what it used to be. It could be intended as a war film for all I know! Sounds like it, certainly.
