It's interesting because in the Greek concept of the Five Ages of Man, the Golden Age were autochthonic, non-gendered and reproduced by physically fertilising the earth, they all became sprirts after the fall of Kronos and the Age of the Titans. The Silver Age had sex, but the women were self-fertilising and socially-dominant. The First Bronze Age, created by Prometheus, had the men fertilising the women and the Second Bronze Age was the Heroic Age, led by men fathered on mortal women by the Gods.

Since similar myth-patterns seem to have emerged all around the Mediterranean, it may be that Lilith is the last remnant of the Triple Goddess of the Silver Age, just as the angels may be the remnants of the autochthons. Thus God becomes Prometheus, creating Mankind, who then interbreed with angels to produce heroes such as Noah, Abraham, David and so forth. This casts poor Adam in the role of Epimetheus and Eve as the dim-witted Pandora.
