It's funny, a 'progress' used to be a tour Kings and Queens made around the country every few years. Basically to remind people that they were still alive and still in charge. They used to involve hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people from the advance parties that secured lodgings, set up campsites and so forth, to the heavy military 'guard' designed to impress people who might have ideas about rebellion.

Of course, back then 'progress' wasn't about changing things, but keeping them the same!
