It's beyond clear that a lot of people commenting on this rather silly article have a very limited understanding of the British monarchy and the whole Harry/Meghan situation.
The Royal Family do not have 'magic blood'. They are simply a succession of right hands needed to sign papers they didn't write and rarely understand the contents of. They represent the institution which is the Crown; the institution from which all government authority in the UK stems, just as the Constitution is the document from which government authority in the US stems. Making the representative an hereditary post rather than an appointed or elected one is just for simplicity. But because the Crown is there and the Royal Family are there, the British government is proof against the kind of authoritarianism that has happened in Russia and looks likely to happen in the US.
Consider, if the role of President was purely ceremonial, with no power of Executive Orders and no right of veto; if the Senate had only limited powers of amendment and veto; if all that was required to pass legislation was a simple majority in the House of Representatives; if the leader of the majority party in the HoR was Prime Minister, supported by a Cabinet formed of members of their own party - first among equals rather than Chief Executive; if said Prime Minister had to face the House at Question Time every week; would the USA be in the same mess as it is right now? We wonders, Precious, yes we wonders!
As to Harry, he's been aware for years that he is 'the Spare', and that as such he would never be allowed to live his own life, follow his own dreams, and speak and behave according to his principles. Unfortunately, unlike his brother, uncles, father (?) and great-grandfather, Harry is not a beef-witted English Squire with no chin, no fear and the ability to stick on a horse as if he was born in the saddle!
Prince William is a photogenic, kind-hearted, sincere people person, but as dumb as a bag of rocks. The Duchess of Cambridge, however, has an iron will, a mind like a steel trap and the smarts to wear outfits (except on the most formal of occasions) that can be found on the racks of high street shops. With the tacit support of her father-in-law, she is steering her husband toward a newer, more accessible, more socially involved brand of monarchy.
Harry, on the other hand, is ferociously intelligent, determined, headstrong and principled. There are things he wants to do, and he is not prepared to abandon them in order to play his role as a Royal. He was always going to get out, the manufactured controversy around his wife just made it easier for him.
Nobody here gave much of a thought to Meghan being black, because she isn't - you can tell that just by looking at her. It was she herself who made a fuss about it, turned it into racism, when her high-handed attitude started pissing people off. It gave Harry the excuse he needed, that's all.
