It's a very tragic thing to watch, sometimes. At Primary Schools, kids have friends, play with and work with, other kids of all shapes, sizes and colours, no problems. By the end of Secondary School, the Black kids won't hang with the White or Brown kids, and many of them have radically changed the way they dress and talk ('going ethnic' some folk call it). The Brown kids have walked away from their White friends as well, but have also separated themselves out by religion - Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus, all hostile to each other. Meanwhile the White kids have also split up into Jocks, Chavs, Townies, Nerds, Geeks and Goths, none of whom talk to each other except in insults.

This is spite of years of teaching kids about each others' cultures, and about respect and equality.

We're still tribal, aren't we?
