It strikes me that somebody somewhere has got the two entirely separate concepts of transexuality and tranvestitism confused. There is a world of difference between someone who has gender dysphoria and someone who simply gets pleasure from dressing as a member of the opposite gender.

That is not to say that tranvestite rapists do not exist - they very well may - but the idea that someone would go through the effort required for the average man to appear convincing as a woman, when jumping at someone in a dark street is so much easier, sounds a little far-fetched.

Then again, it may have more to do with our continued squeamishness about universal bodily functions. It's perfectly okay to be in mixed company when the food is going in, but we suddenly get all prudish and uncomfortable about the other end of the process!
